Your September Statement
In
light of the series of financial and political events which have
rattled the global equity markets, we want you to know that your
September statement will reflect significantly lower values, as most
equity markets have recorded declines in the last month in the range
of 15% to 25%.
September
has proven to be a period that tests every investor’s fortitude. We
understand that the response to your September statement may be
difficult. Many of you may be wondering where you stand and whether
you are still on track to achieve your long-term goals. The answer
is yes. Although you want to ensure that you have sufficient access
to secure funds to meet your income needs over the short-term, the
mid and long-term prospects look promising.
Mutual
fund companies have experienced money managers who buy and sell on
our behalf. They are starting to buy companies with growing
earnings, low debt and solid dividends. You already own many of
these companies, but now there is a much larger pool of
opportunities from which to choose.
The
markets in the last few weeks have seen remarkable swings up and
down, as the US in particular is in a period of unprecedented short
term political and financial uncertainty. Short term fluctuations
are likely to continue for a while yet. We are confident, however,
that we’ll look back upon this period as a truly outstanding buying
opportunity.
We
will be calling you, and/or writing a note on your statement if we
need to modify your portfolio. In the meantime, if you wish to
